Q: How long will this process take?
Q: Where does this money come from?
A: We search government records ranging from local municipalities to federal agencies (excluding income taxes). Once hired by our clients, we are then able to explain the exact source of the refund. The reason we don’t tell our clients the source of the refunds without a signed agreement is to protect our company’s investments. By the time we first contact a potential client, we have already spent a great deal of time and money doing the research, including: finding the refund, tracing it to the potential client, and trying to locate them. If we told our clients upfront where the money is coming from, they might be less likely to use our service. Back to top
Q: How do I know this isn't some kind of scam?
A: We will not require any personal information such as credit card numbers, social security number, date of birth, or other confidential information. This website contains our reference page of companies which we have dealt with in the past that can vouch for our legitimacy. In addition, our staff is ready and able to discuss any concerns with your attorney, accountant, or financial advisor. It is important to note that at no time do we require any out-of-pocket payment from our clients; we simply deduct our fee from the amount recovered. Back to top
Q: Do I have to pay any money up front to use your service?
A: No. We pay researchers to find refunds and link them to the possible owners of those refunds. We pay different services that help us locate our potential clients. We pay any and all procedural and processing fees from each government agency. We pay any unexpected fees including an attorney or other outside assistance when needed. Unfortunately, we may go through all of these steps and (for any number of reasons) fail to recover any amount. In this case we incur all costs at no charge to our clients. Kensington offers a no-risk situation for our clients. We do all the research, invest all the time, pay all the fees, and if we cannot obtain a refund, there is no charge whatsoever to our clients. Q: Why should I use Kensington?
A: Hiring us saves our clients the time and money that must be invested to recover these funds. Many of our clients are people who have tried to recover amounts on their own and have been unsuccessful. Our clients range from individuals, to attorneys and accountants, to small business and larger corporations. Back to top
Q: What will happen to this money if I don't try to recover it?
A: This money will not be automatically refunded. Many of the refunds we work on have an expiration date. Once this date has passed, the money becomes property of the agency holding it and cannot be refunded. Ask your Kensington representative about your specific case. Back to top
Q: How long will this take?
A: The amount of time you will have to spend on this is minimal, usually just a few signatures. After we have obtained all of the necessary information, the time frame to receive a refund is approximately eight to sixteen weeks. Back to top
