Board of Review Opens Group 2 for 2023 Appeals

The Cook County Board of Review has opened 2023 property tax appeals for the second group. The Board’s deadline to appeal your 2023 assessed value is October 17, 2023. Below are the townships that are currently open in Group 2:

    • Berwyn
    • Cicero
    • Hanover
    • River Forest
    • Rogers Park

Assessments can be appealed every year, regardless of when a township was reassessed. If you missed your appeal opportunity at the Assessor’s office earlier in the year, or if you did appeal and weren’t satisfied with the result, you have a second opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review. Appealing your home’s 2023 assessed value is the only way to achieve property tax relief on your second installment property tax bill in the fall of 2024, other than selling your home or claiming a new exemption.

Berwyn Township 2023 Triennial Reassessments Mailed

2023 Triennial reassessment notices were mailed to Berwyn Township homeowners on Monday, April 24th, 2023. Homeowners in Berwyn Township have 30 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there will be a second opportunity to appeal later in the year at the Board of Review, whether you appeal at the Assessor’s office or not). The deadline for appealing at the Assessor’s office is May 24th, 2023.

Berwyn Township 2021 Assessment Notices Mailed

The Assessor’s Office has mailed 2021 assessment notices to Berwyn property owners. You may appeal your assessment each year during the 30 day window which is now open and will close on July 1st.

Cook County reassesses properties triennially through a mass appraisal system.
