Board of Review Opens Group 7 for 2023 Appeals

The Cook County Board of Review has opened 2023 property tax appeals for the seventh group. The Board’s deadline to appeal your 2023 assessed value is January 26, 2024. Below are the townships that are currently open in Group 7:

    • Niles
    • Proviso
    • North Chicago
    • South Chicago

Assessments can be appealed every year, regardless of when a township was reassessed. If you missed your appeal opportunity at the Assessor’s office earlier in the year, or if you did appeal and weren’t satisfied with the result, you have a second opportunity to appeal at the Board of Review. Appealing your home’s 2023 assessed value is the only way to achieve property tax relief on your second installment property tax bill in the fall of 2024, other than selling your home or claiming a new exemption.

Niles Township 2023 Assessment Notices Mailed

2023 property assessment notices were mailed by the Cook County Assessor’s office on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, to Niles Township property owners. The window to appeal your 2023 assessed value is now open until the deadline of October 20, 2023. The following cities, towns, and villages are in Niles Township:

      • Glenview
      • Golf
      • Lincolnwood
      • Morton Grove (east 3/4)
      • Niles (southeast half)
      • Skokie

We recommend property owners review their assessments annually and appeal whenever there is a strong evidence-based argument that your home may not be assessed fairly. Niles Township was reassessed in 2022 but even if you appealed last year, you can appeal your assessment again this year. A successful appeal in 2023 may result in two years of savings until Niles is reassessed in 2025. Niles Township 2021 Assessment Notices Mailed

The window to appeal your 2021 assessed value is now open until the deadline of December 03, 2021. 2021 property assessment notices were mailed to Niles Township property owners by the Cook County Assessor’s Office on Monday, November 01, 2021.  The following cities, towns, and villages are in Niles Township: Glenview, Golf, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove (east 3/4), Niles (southeast half), and Skokie.

Niles Township 2019 Triennial Reassessments Mailed

Niles2019 Triennial reassessment notices were mailed to Niles Township homeowners on Tuesday, September 10th. The following cities, towns, and villages are in Niles Township: Glenview, Golf, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove (east 3/4), Niles (southeast half), and Skokie. Homeowners in Niles Township have 30 days to appeal their assessment at the Assessor’s office (there will be a second opportunity to appeal later in the year at the Board of Review, whether you appeal at the Assessor’s office or not). The deadline for appealing at the Assessor’s office is October 10th.

Valuation statistics for Niles Township will be published by the Cook County Assessor’s office here when they become available.
